We were around Syracuse, New York and our goal today was to make it to our campground in Massachusetts. We had one picked out near Mansfield and it was over 200 miles away, so we wanted to get going.
Another reason we wanted to get going was because we were still parked illegally in a great big parking lot at Verona State Park! I didn't know this, but Matt was up about half the night worried that somebody was going to bother us. He said he was listening to cars all night and even peeked out the door a few times!
I woke up around 7:30 and did not want to move. Little did I know that Matt wanted to get going ASAP! We really didn't want to wake the kids up, but we also figured that since we weren't technically in a campsite, we were questioning whether we needed to pay or not. The way we thought we would avoid paying was to leave before the office opened. I don't know if this was the right thing to do or not!
Before we woke the kids up, we had to come up with a plan. The kids had two late nights in a row and I really wanted to let them sleep! We came up with an idea of buying them donuts and Sunny D for breakfast if they got out of bed and in the truck. This worked wonders! They were up and in the truck within 5 minutes!
Since Matt still had the truck hooked up, we put the slide-outs in and we were off. We drove right out of the park and didn't look back!
About an hour down the road, we found a Walmart and went inside and got the kids donuts. Matt had a meeting at 9:30, so we ate our donuts in the parking lot while he was on the phone. Well, Matt, Megan, and Courtney had donuts. I had cereal and Christian had applesauce. (Darn food allergies!)
When we were done eating, Matt was still on his phone call, so we went over to "Dollar Tree" and got a few items.
After this, we were back on the road again! About 4 pm, we pulled into our campground We got our camper unhooked and I took the kids swimming and we met a nice couple from Florida in the pool area. We also spent some time at the playground and took a walk through the campground that evening.
