Today we hit many sites and I am actually looking forward to riding in the car tomorrow for awhile.
We decided to drive into DC because it was Sunday and we saw a parking garage right beside Ford's Theatre yesterday when we were there. We got there about 9:30.
Today's agenda:
Ford's Theatre
The Petersen House (house where Lincoln died)
Lunch at a little diner
Short subway ride to Smithsonian Museum of Air and Space
Walk to Washington Memorial (but when about a block away from the museum, notice that Courtney does not have her jacket and go back to the museum to find it, which we did!)
Walk around Washington Memorial and see WWII Memorial
Continue along the reflecting pool to Lincoln Memorial
Walk over to see Vietnam Memorial
Walk to the White House
Walk back to Ford's Theatre to get the truck because we drove into DC today
Drive to Jefferson Memorial and see memorial
Get back in truck and come home.
Arrive home at 9:15 Eat supper, go to bed!
(I wish I would've had a pedometer today!)
We are pulling out tomorrow! We are going to stop see Arlington Cemetery and at a hanger (part of the Smithsonian Museum) that houses larger space items, like the spaceship Discovery. After those two stops we are heading west!!!
Our goal is to get home by Saturday. Can we drive 1300 miles in 6 days?? We will see!
