Saturday August 31st, 2013- Exploration of Sandusky, Ohio

Once Matt and I determined that going to the Erie Lake islands was too expensive, we decided to do some of our own explorations.  One of my favorite things to do is to just walk or drive around small towns and see what we can find.

Again, I was not disapointed.  Matt and I took the kids and got in the truck and headed to Sandusky.  We didn't really have a goal, just to see what was out there, but we really wanted to find a beach.

I knew there was a beach by Cedar Pointe Amusement Park, so we put that address into our GPS and headed there. Little did we know that Cedar Pointe is on its own island and in order to even get on the island, you had to pay a "parking fee" of $15!   Once we found this our, we turned around in the middle of the road- about 100 feet in front of a "no u-turn" sign!

Here is as close as we got to Cedar Pointe! I'm disappointed we didn't get to go on the beach or see the lighthouse that was located on the island.

From here, we decided to keep driving and see if we could get to Lake Erie somehow.  Eventually we found a nice area downtown where we stopped and walked around for awhile.

We passed a couple yacht clubs with VERY nice boats and headed out towards the water.

We spent some time out here and we enjoyed watching a few boats come in off the water and head towards the yacht club.  The girls waved to them!

We ended up at a park and then headed out to get ice cream as you can see in my previous post.  After this little adventure, we headed back to the campground to swim, eat dinner, and do some laundry!
