50th Anniversary

Most people may not know, but tomorrow is the 50th anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.  And of course, we are going to have a lesson about it at our house. :)

When we were in Washington DC in September, we stopped at Arlington National Cemetery.  While we were there, we saw JFK's gravesite.

There is an eternal flame at his gravesite. (f you were watching the national news last night, President Obama and his wife PLUS President Clinton and his wife PLUS some Kennedy family members laid a wreath at Kennedy's place of burial.)


There is a huge plaza by his grave and it has many excerpts from his speeches engraved along the wall.  Can you see Courtney in the picture?

We are going to have a short lesson his life with my favorite students tomorrow. How can I let such an important day in history go by without talking about it??
