Independence Hall:
This sign says, "Independence Hall: The State House of Pennsylvania: The Birthplace of the United States of America"
This is inside the specific room where many of our founding documents were written, including the Declaration of Independence, the Articles of Confederation, and the Constitution of the United States of America. I was surprised at how small this room actually is, I often imagined it bigger, but this is the whole room.
The sun chair, this is where George Washington sat during the writing of the Constitution.. The chair is called "The chair of the rising sun."
In a room near Independence Hall, they have copies of the original three documents, they told us that these are older than the ones that are on display in Washington DC at the National Archives, but these are also not signed copies.
Boston also had a part in the founding of our country! Besides being the city where everything freedom began, it was also the place where the Declaration of Independence was read for the first time to the people.
This is the Old State House in Boston. Do you see that balcony on the 2nd floor? This is where somebody came out and read the Declaration of Independence to the crowds that were gathered below on July 8, 1776.
If you would like another tidbit of history, this circle shows where the Boston Massacre happened on March 5, 1770. This massacre happened right below the balcony of the state house (picture above.)
Happy Independence Day everyone!!!!
