Week in Review

I noticed that I haven't blogged in a few days. Here is what has been going at the Ruwe house.

1.  I started an online class. I am required to take two classes every five years in order to keep my state teaching certificate, since I am not teaching full time in an accredited school.  I am taking a class called "Internet and Education" and it started about a week ago. During my free hour after children go to bed, I am usually working on that class.  It will be a little challenging, but I have already learned something. Do you know the difference between a digital native and a digital immigrant??  It's a nice class because I can apply it to every grade and every subject.  We have to do projects every 10 days and I can tailor it to what I teach, I think it will work out nicely!

2.  The bunnies are still alive. They hang out in a shoe box most of the time with an old kitchen towel. They like to be covered, so we always give them a spot to go and then cover them up.  Matt has been on feeding duty, he says they're not eating well, but they're still alive! Their eyes are not open yet either, we read online that they will open up about 10-13 days after they were born.  These are some young bunnies! And soooo cute!

3.  I received Megan's Sonlight Core D set of books in the mail today. I bought Sonlight Core E yesterday, so I am set with history, read-alouds, readers, and language arts for the next two years. ( I guess this means I am homeschooling for 4th grade too??)  I also got about half the science books with each of these sets. I ordered another 6 books online yesterday. I had to get their math and a few missing books.   I have to get four more books and I am done.  These are workbooks and I want to wait a bit and see if any used, but not written in, books will show up on ebay.  Matt asked me why I was getting so many books this year.  I told him that I am teaching two kids, plus I am doing a new Bible program, which calls for quite a few books.  I asked Megan if she wanted to start school tomorrow and she looked at me and said, "But mom, it's still summer!" I know! I was just kidding!

4.  The kids have been at Vacation Bible School every night from 6-8, we went there tonight and watched them sing two songs that they have sung all week, they were cute and the girls really had a good time!  I really wish our church would do vacation Bible School.  Every summer, we attend VBS at a little church by our old house over on Blondo Street. We're been doing this since Megan was 3.

5.  Courtney and Christian are still on their diet.  It's getting to be pretty normal anymore.  We eat a lot of fruits and vegetables and lunch meat. Courtney figured out she could have potato chips, so those were a treat last week!  She's been taking her own snack to Bible school every night too.  The diet seems to be helping Christian, but I don't know about Courtney. Hopefully it is!

6.  Christian is officially two. Is it bad that his parents lost his birthday present? We bought him a steering wheel to put on the swing set and Matt and I don't know where it went. Yikes! I'm glad he's only two and doesn't realize he hasn't gotten anything from mom and dad yet!

7.  Check out this equation:  Camper outside with awning out + bad wind = half of the awning blown onto the top of the camper and parts are broken.  Matt was not home at the time (taking girls to Bible school) when the awning blew up. When he got home, it was pouring rain and he got a wooden ladder and pulled it all down! I was helping. He said, "I hope I don't die!"  I was a little concerned- metal awning poles plus lighting! We are planning on going camping tomorrow, so hopefully he can get it fixed in the morning. We did get the awning rolled up, so we can take the camper somewhere, but it still needs to be fixed! That was a pretty big storm!!
