A Little Rearranging...

So, we got home from church today and Matt gave the girls orders to clean up their bedrooms...again! Of course they both whined and complained. Megan was in tears, "But dad, Courtney made the mess in my room!" And she does. Is it fair to make Megan clean up Courtney's mess in her room?

I was feeding Christian at the time and I don't really think it is fair either. Whenever a room is clean, Courtney will come through and destroy it. For example, we keep all the girls' art supplies in my sitting room off my master bedroom. Courtney and Megan cleaned it up last Monday and by Tuesday, the floor was covered again.

I called Matt in to where I was and suggested that we put ALL the toys in Courtney's room and move both beds and all the dressers into Megan's room. We have talked about putting the girls together for awhile, but there was really no reason to do it. Now there is. Courtney is always going into Megan's room to play but doesn't clean up her mess, then Megan gets mad. If we put everything in one room, then Megan won't get mad!

So off we went. The girls helped and we cleaned up Megan's room and took all the toys from her room into Courtney's. Then I helped as we moved Courtney's bed and dressers into Megan's room. We moved Megan's dresser into Courtney's room. It was quite the ordeal! In the end, we only got Megan's room put back together, it may take awhile to get the toy room organized. I hope this will help matters around our house now!

The new toy room, maybe tomorrow I will get in there and organize everything.
I am also going to put all their art supplies in there.

Megan's room with both beds and Courtney's tall dresser.

Courtney's other dresser. There are no toys in this room, not even dress-up dresses!

Now to get them to stop giggling and go to sleep!

  1. Matt, Matt, Matt,

Children this age do not know what to do with the vague direction, "clean up your room." Break the task into incremental steps and celebrate each accomplishment. Let's put all of the books on the shelves. Now, let's arrange all of the stuffed animals . . .

The pictures on your blog, Charla, are magnificent. Maintenance is a daily accomplishment.
