Broken Train!

The other night we were in Fremont and we saw a train stopped on the tracks. Obviously, we were able to turn around and go the other way, so we did, BUT this led to an interesting conversation about WHY the train was stopped.

Christian thought for sure that the train had crashed or the engineer had fallen asleep.

Micah, on the other hand, thought differently. He said, "Change batteries! Daddy get home!"
In other words, he thought the train needed to change its batteries and dad would do that when he got home. Whenever something doesn't work at home, Micah has learned that it usually needs new batteries.  Why wouldn't we apply this same concept to a train that "isn't working?"

Yesterday morning, we were on our way to church and we saw a train that was moving. Micah said,"Changed batteries! Yay!"  In his little mind, he thought that the two trains were the same and somebody had "changed the batteries" in the train and made it work! He was thrilled watching that train move!

Oh the mind of a two year old!!

And of course, thanks to "The Little Red Caboose," Micah told us which cars were the coal cars, the flat cars, the oil cars, and the box cars!
