Where is my blanket???

Refer to #9 below

Courtney just realized that her blanket is missing....and she asked her dad where it was. He said it went to the store, Courtney didn't believe him. Finally he said it is in the washer, Courtney replied with, "I'll go get it then!" So she walked over and looked in the washer. Once she realized it is REALLY in the washer, she is now in tears saying, "I need it! Take it out! Don't ever do that!" Poor thing! She's just going to have to survive without it for about an hour...

Update: It is 5:45 pm and I asked Megan what Courtney was doing. She said, "Sleeping." Well, that would explain why she wanted her blanket so bad. Of course, the blanket is in the dryer now so she is using one of Megan's teddy bears to cuddle with instead of her blanket.

Randon Thoughts from the Week

1. How do you get fingernail polish out clothes? espcially pretty Cinderella dresses....

2. How come I keep putting top sheets on my girls' beds when I KNOW they don't use them? I just end up pulling them off, washing them, and putting back in the linen closet.

3. I love that when my dryer says it is done and my clothes are really dry!

4. What am I supposed to do with 15 sacks of girl scout cookies on my counter?

5. Next time one child gets pink eye, I'm going to automatically give eye drops to the other child.

6. Why can't I find maternity clothes for a long torso like myself...I've started to hit up Matt's closet for clothes. (plus I don't really want to buy new maternity clothes for a 3rd kid!)

7. My children are independent, but sometimes they DO need help from mom. (refer to #1).

8. Why can't dishes wash themselves? and the laundry...

9. On the subject of laundry, Courtney doesn't even know that I snuck her purple blanket away and put it in the washer...as long as she has it back by bedtime, I think we're ok.

10. I love afternoon movie times, the girls watch a movie and I take a nap...great for all of us!!

Day off of school??

We have been battling pink eye in our house...Tuesday morning, Courtney woke up and came crying into my bedroom at 6:45 am. All I could understand was "I can't open my eye!!!!" And she was right, her left eye was swollen shut! I got her a warm towel to get the swelling down and called my mother-in-law, who is a nurse. Her first instinct was that it was pink eye. I have never dealt with pink eye before, so I didn't quite know what I was up against. After about a half an hour, I got her eye open and it was very gunky. Her eye also looked very bloodshot. Her right one was a little red and gunky, but not stuck shut.

I put her in front of Dora while I got Megan ready for school and after Megan was gone on the bus, I returned to dealing with her eye. I called the doctor and I got an appointment for 10:15 am. Her eye was no longer red, but it was still swollen. The nurse told me they usually don't bring kids in with pink eye because it is so contagious, they just call in a prescription, but since Courtney's eye was red and swollen, they wanted to see her.

After taking her in, the doctor confirmed that it was pink eye. She gave us some eye drops and said it would probably be a 2-man job to get them in her eye. On the way home from the doctor, Courtney fell asleep and took a 2 1/2 hour nap, therefore, her eye was swollen shut again. I didn't get her eye drops in until about 2 in the afternoon and within a half an hour, they looked so much better!

When Megan got home from schoool, I gave her strict instructions not to touch Courtney and to wash her hands because I didn't want her to get it and miss school. Megan did really good Tuesday night and I didn't see any redness in her eyes.

Wednesday came and I got Megan up and off to school. Courtney's eyes weren't swollen shut in the morning, so I could already see some improvement. We stayed home Wednesday and Megan came home early from school (they get out at 2 on Wednesdays). They played together that afternoon, but we were still washing our hands all the time.

On Wednesday night, we take both girls to AWANA at our church and each of us leads in one of their rooms. Matt decided to stay at home with Courtney and I took Megan. About 25 minutes into Sparks handbook time, I pulled Megan over and looked at her eyes and sure enough, they were starting to look pink. We got out stuff together and headed home. We put drops in eyes right away and I pretty much knew that Megan was not going to school on Thursday.

Thursday came and I had hope that maybe she hadn't contracted pink eye and that her eyes would be just fine to go to school. I woke her up at her usual time and looked at her eyes, they weren't completely white, but they weren't red either. I decided to play it safe and she stayed home for the day. We continued to do eye drops during the day and she played like she wasn't sick at all. Her eyes looked white all day, so either she didn't have it in the first place or the drops really helped!

Tomorrow, Megan is heading back to school and Courtney and I are going to get out of our house and have fun with our friends! I have learned all about pink eye this week and am ready to be done with it!
