For a long time now, we have had a "chore chart" hung up on the girls' bedrooms. They have certain chores they are expected to do and they get paid in nickels accordingly.
For awhile now, we have not been doing the chore chart. It all started when we went camping this summer and never got back to it, BUT the girls continued to do their chores! Boy, we have them trained. :)
So last night, we decided to get back to the chore chart, except with a few changes.
Megan's chores:
Make bed
Clean up bedroom
Clean up playroom
Feed Dell
Do Homework! (we have a little problem getting homework done, so we thought this would be an incentive. Well, it didn't work tonight.)
And of course, have a good attitude for the day.
Courtney's chores:
Make bed
Clean up bedroom
Clean up playroom
Clean off dining room table
Take everything that you took downstairs, back upstairs. (By the end of the day, there is usually a collection of Courtney's toys downstairs, we thought this would help.)
And Courtney also needs to have a good attitude for the day.
We took off "put clean clothes away." We only did this about once or twice a week, so now this is going to be an expectation that they will not get paid for.
I went by the door tonight and Matt had already given them sad/ happy faces for the day. Except a few that I thought should've been sad faces were happy faces. Hmmm. And Megan got a dash (don't earn or lose anything) for homework. She didn't get it done, I think she deserves a sad face! She is about 4 days behind on handwriting, but besides that, she only has math, so she doesn't have that much.
Matt also gave her the incentive tonight that if she does well at homeschooling all year and gets everything done, he would consider taking us all to Disneyworld next year. Heck, that is incentive for me too! What do I get for spending 16 hours a week teaching this kid? But I do thoroughly enjoy it, so that may be enough!
